Duties and Responsibilities:
The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) is the UN headquarters in Africa and the respective office of the Secretary-General. UNON supports program implementation of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the UN Human Settlements Program UNHABITAT) globally, as well as other UN offices in Kenya, by providing administrative, conference and information services (www.unon.org). This post is in the office of United Nations Office at Nairobi, Central Support Services (CSS), Commercial Operations Unit (COU), UN Events & Wellness Centre under the supervision of the Unit Chief. The Events Centre features a unique character and is designed to host a wide range of events for various UN entities and the diplomatic community, with meetings and events spaces located at the upper floor level popular for business seminars and conferences, retreats, team building activities and receptions, and a large covered outdoor space, suitable for large functions such as sit-down dinners, receptions, performances, exhibits, meetings, and conferences. The Wellness Centre is independent from the Events Centre, and as self-sustaining business operation, fully funded and accessible to personnel and some members of the diplomatic community that have paid up for membership, providing a diverse range of facilities located at the lower floor level comprising a gym, outdoor fitness space, swimming pool, tennis, squash and multi-purpose courts. The incumbent provides specialized support services to help ensure the smooth functioning of the UN Wellness Centre. The Wellness Centre is seeking a tennis/squash instructor to provide professional service that will offer coaching, teaching classes and program design to United Nations Wellness Centre members and guests. The incumbent works towards creating excellence in the fitness center.
Responsibilities will include;
- Assist in developing outreach initiatives, marketing materials, schedules, and Wellness content that engage and inspire clients.
- Providing professional tennis/squash activities that include coaching, teaching classes and program design to United Nations Wellness Centre members and or guests.
- Carrying out tennis/squash coaching services to both members and non-members.
- Responsible for ensuring that tennis/squash courts are clean, ready and suitable for members’ use.
- Double-checking that the Admin. Assistants do tennis/squash bookings correctly.
- Promoting tennis/squash lessons to both members and non-members for purposes of increasing sales.
- Recording all the services rendered to members for purposes of accountability.
- Have a client database or profile in his/her record.
- Advice clients on tennis/squash related matters
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
Qualifications/ Special Skills:
- High School Certificate is required. A minimum of 1 year experience from a reputable organization/setting is required. Certificate in Tennis coaching or related qualifications is required. A minimum of 1 year experience from a reputable organization/setting is required.
Languages:
- Fluency in oral and written English is required.
