Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Coordinate capacity building and laboratory interventions, ensuring activities are executed on time, with quality and in line with national priorities.
  • Liaise with the NDoH, DoA, DFFE, WHO, UNICEF, FAO and other delivery partners at different levels of project implementation.
  • Assist with stakeholder coordination and support the analysis of existing laboratory handbooks, triaging and sample referral protocols for both animal and human health.
  • Provide support in tracking deliverables and preparing internal and external progress updates.
  • Contribute to translating Pandemic Fund objectives into actionable workplans and deliverables.
  • Assist in organizing stakeholder meetings, workshops, field visits, prepare agendas, minutes and follow-up action plans.
  • Support and coordinate the functions of the Laboratory and HRH Technical Working Groups (TWGs) of the Pandemic Fund.
  • Maintain strong relationships across government, partners and other CHAI teams to ensure coordination and alignment of activities.
  • Support the implementation of a tailored Human Resources for Health (HRH) strategy that addresses the workforce needs for optimizing routine health care which provides for surge response capacities for epidemics, pandemics, and other public health emergencies.
  • Document programme activities, share best practices through case studies and publications, and prepare presentations, analyses and reports for donor stakeholder engagements to inform local, regional and global policy and increase the evidence base.
  • Support programme expansion and contribute to business development by drafting concept notes, proposals, and seeking additional funding.
  • Execute any other additional responsibilities, as requested by the Programme Manager.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in public health, animal health, environmental health, epidemiology or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of professional experience in demanding, results-oriented environments in the public sector and/or private sector (e.g. One health, pandemic preparedness, animal health, environmental health).
  • Experience working at policy development level, with donors and managing donor funded projects, particularly in pandemic preparedness and response, global health security, and One Health.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical and quantitative skills, including attention to detail and experience in disease surveillance and reporting.
  • Strong communication skills, including delivery of compelling presentations and documents in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
  • Experience engaging with policymakers, senior government leadership, multiple stakeholders and donors.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on complex projects and solve challenging problems, in a high-pressure, fast-paced and multicultural environment.
  • Strategically minded, able to think creatively about long-term programme objectives and the detailed steps necessary to achieve these goals.
